On 24th December 2025, the Department of Botany, in collaboration with IQAC, NSS, Department of History, and Department of Zoology, organized a significant awareness program on the prevention of early child marriage that prevail in the society. The event successfully engaged 64 students and 9 faculty members.
This programme was aligned with government campaign towards preventing early child marriage through the campaign titled BAL VIVAH MUKH BHARAT (BVMB).
Program Highlights
Dr. Sushmita Thakur, Assistant Professor from the Department of Zoology, served as the resource person. In her engaging and approachable lecture, she elucidated the profound physical and mental health impacts of early child marriage, using relatable examples to drive home the message.
Impact & Relevance
Students responded positively, expressing satisfaction with the informative session. The program addressed a critical issue, as early marriage remains a primary cause of student dropouts in the college and region.
This initiative underscores Namrup College's commitment to social awareness and student welfare, fostering a supportive environment for higher education continuation.
