World Cancer Day 2025 at Namrup College

On 4th February 2025, World Cancer Day 2025 was commemorated at Namrup College through a collaborative effort by the Department of Zoology and Botany, the Instructional Biotech Hub, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The primary objective of this event was to raise awareness about cancer, its prevention, and the latest advancements in treatment. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of Namrup College, reinforcing the importance of collective action in the fight against cancer.

Key Highlights of the Program

The event featured an enlightening session by Mr. Hijam Homendro Singh, an esteemed resource person and former Associate Professor of the Zoology Department at Namrup College. Mr. Singh shared valuable insights into the latest innovations in cancer treatment, along with precautionary measures to reduce the risk of the disease. His expert knowledge provided a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing advancements in oncology.

Another inspiring moment of the event was the address by Ms. Moushumi Konwar, a cancer survivor, who courageously shared her personal journey of battling and overcoming cancer. Her speech was not only informative but also served as a beacon of hope and motivation for the audience. She emphasized the importance of spreading accurate cancer information, adopting preventive measures, and taking proactive steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

Students from the Department of Zoology also contributed to the awareness campaign by presenting insightful slides on various aspects of cancer, highlighting its causes, symptoms, and preventive strategies. A total of 25 students were present and participated in the programme.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Susmita Thakur, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, dignitaries, and participants for making the program a success.
